The Queen's Medical Center (Queen's), located in downtown Honolulu, is the only Comprehensive Stroke Center for Hawaii, supported by the only Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit, Neuro-Interventional Program, and Vascular Neurosurgery programs for the state. Queen's serves as the main hub for the statewide Hawaii Telestroke programs with 7 spoke hospitals spread throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Queen's also plays a large role in Hawaii Stroke Coalition, a multidisciplinary community stakeholder organization working together for the common purpose of improving stroke outcomes throughout the state of Hawaii. Furthermore, it has Obstetric Neurovascular Service and Neuro-Cardiology Program, both of which are uniquely established through close collaboration with our Obstetric Critical Care and Interventional Cardiology programs.
We are currently hiring a total of 5 Neurovascular Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with the goal to provide 24/7 coverage (1 on day shift, 1 on night shift) for the Primary Stroke Service, an admitting primary service that is driven primarily by the Neurovascular APPs who work closely with the attending neurologist with vascular expertise. The Neurovascular APP practices with maximal autonomy utilizing their license to the fullest potential. This includes independent decision-making during Acute Stroke Code with tPA and thrombectomy eligibility, independent review of advanced neuroimaging to make tPA and thrombectomy decisions, comprehensive medical management of all stroke/neurovascular patients from admission to discharge, and collaboration with other neurovascular consultants (Neuro-Interventional and Vascular Neurosurgery) as well as other disciplines such as Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Obstetrics. The candidate will share responsibilities of day, night and weekend/holiday shift coverage with the team members.
